I am a smart ass. Even though I’m not always right, I’m rarely wrong. Don’t take anything I say seriously, and we’ll get along just fine. I am simultaneously the most and least interesting person I know. I am a renaissance slacker. Did I mention I’m a smart ass?
I play guitar, write and record questionable music, and have my own recording studio in my home. I am a member of ASCAP and have had a song featured in an indie movie soundtrack. It’s been far too long since I wrote or recorded new music.
I’ve studied various Asian martial arts for most of my life, but currently focus on training in and teaching an art with Japanese roots.
I’m a geek and techie of dubious pedigree. I’ve dabbled in PHP/MySQL, Flash, and XHTML/CSS, built and fixed computers, and am conversant on Mac, Win/PC, and Unix/Linux. I studied C, Java, and networking in college, which means I don’t have the foggiest clue how to use any of them.
I am a linguist. I speak Japanese fluently, Russian pretty well, French a little less well, and limited English. I have studied a tiny bit of German, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese (Brazilian, of course) and Korean. I also recently discovered that I can read some Aragonés, Belorussian, Bulgarian, Czech, Esperanto, Italian, Macedonian, Romanian, Polish, Scots, Slovensk, Serb, Spanish, Ukranian, and probably several other languages that I don’t even know exist yet.
I have spent time in Canada, Mexico, most of the US states, Japan, and Korea. I’ve yet to visit Europe, which I intend to fix.
I am a military veteran.
I am neither Republican nor Democrat… neither Libertarian nor Green. Labels limit and foster group-think. I ponder freely with my melon and feel freely with my ticker. When the two get together to fight it out, it’s pure sex. I also happen to look fantastic in a kilt.
